Canada Post workers in Toronto are striking again. The protest, which was referred to as a Day of Action, was “aimed to push back against what they say is a move to privatize Canada Post that jeopardizes both jobs and public access.” The potential changes were announced by the minister of government transformation, public works, and procurement at the end of September.
Changes proposed:
- Ending daily mail delivery requirements
- Converting residences that still receive door-to-door delivery to community mailboxes
- Closing some rural post offices
The proposed changes could save Canada Post over $420 million yearly. We will keep you updated on any developments with this situation.
