The issue started about 5 years ago when the USPS gave discounts to mailers that could transmit electronic information on their packages to the USPS. 

I believe the USPS has been holding millions of dollars from dormant prefunded permit accounts, and at a specific point making it almost impossible to get the money back. 

The one bright spot on the 6% postal increase going into effect on January 26, 2014 is that customers using a postage meter will save $.01 per letter. 

We just heard this week that the USPS has proposed raising the price of a stamp by 6.5% to $.49. 

The USPS just announced three new changes to their Priority Mail® Service that could make a big impact to reduce your shipping costs and give you a reason to shop rates against the private carriers.

This can increase the value of Priority Mail service and it should be compared with the private carriers.

The question is what changes we could see for the future that will affect every one of us who still depend on the postal service to get our mail each day.

It is the age old question that only a brave few have asked.  But for those who have dared, which makes more sense: to use a Pressure Sealing System or a Folder and Inserter? 

There are plenty of ways to reduce mailing costs but many of them require investment in equipment, software, labor etc.
